Animal Master

At the rear of the great army stands the lone figure surrounded by hawks.  In the isolated keep, the duke's hounds flock about the feet of a fearsome hunter.  Inside the great city is a talented horse breeder who sales horses of a higher quality.  These men are the Animal Masters, a special breed of warrior who shares more in common with the animals he works with than the men he works for.  They are the keeper of falcons for noblemen, the trainers of carrier pigeons for generals, the keeper of horses in large stables, and the trainers of hounds.

Class Skills:  The Animal Master's class skills are:  Concentration, Craft, Diplomacy, Handle Animal, Heal, Knowledge (nature), Listen, Profession, Ride, Search, Sense Motive, Spellcraft, and Survival.

Skill Points at Each Level:    4 + Int modifier.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency:  Animal Masters are proficient with all simple weapons and with light and medium armor and with shields.

Nature Sense:  An animal master can identify plants and animals with perfect accuracy.  He can tell whether water is safe to drink or dangerous.

Speak with Animals:  The animal master has learned a rudimentary language that enables him to communicate on a very basic level with animals.

Animal Companion:  At 5th level, an animal master gains an animal companion.  This animal is one that the animal master has trained from birth.

Spells:  The animal master has the ability to cast a small number of divine spells.  To cast a spell, the animal master must have a wisdom score of at least 10 + the spell's level.  Animal master's bonus spells are based on Wisdom and saving throws against these spells have a Difficulty Class of 10 + spell level + Wisdom modifier.  When the animal master gets 0 spells of a given level, the animal master gets only bonus spells.  An animal master without a bonus spell for that level cannot yet cast a spell of that level.  An animal master prepares and casts spells just as a cleric does.
