The
Greater Cyclops looks nearly identical to their lesser cousins. A Greater
Cyclops is a single-eyed giant, standing around 20 feet tall and weighing
over 5,000 pounds. Females are slightly shorter and weigh slightly less.
A single bloodshot eye dominates the center of their forehead. Their hair
is either deep blue or black but is not matted and unkempt like thier
lesser counterparts. A greater cyclops
has a dark, ruddy skin tone, and a deep, bellowing voice.
A
greater cyclops can live to be 1000 years old.
COMBAT
A
cyclops will fight using its greatsword and boulders. It prefers throwing
rocks at an opponent first, and should any foe survive the hail of
boulders, the cyclops will move to attack with its sword. A cyclops’
thrown rocks have a range increment of 150 feet.
Unlike their lesser cousins, greater cyclops actually prefer to observe their
opponents prior to battle and strike when they can exploit some weakness or
spring a trap.

For rock throwing and rock catching, see the Giant entry in the Monster
Manual, page 100.
CYCLOPS
SOCIETY
Greater Cyclops tend to be the aristocrats of
the Cyclops society. Sages believe that they are the remnants of a large
Cyclopian dynasty that once spanned a large area. Regular Cyclops are
actually the distant relatives of the more pure Greater Cyclops bloodline.
Ancient artifacts have been unearthed that make reference to one eyed giants who
once ruled Northern Traykon.
Greater Cyclops can survive on
almost any animal or plant diet. They enjoy meat of all sorts and prize it
above vegetable foods. Greater Cyclops
CYCLOPS
CHARACTERS
Most
groups of cyclopses are fighters or warriors, though an occasional cleric
will be encountered. Cyclopes clerics have access to any two of the
following domains: Evil, Chaos, Destruction, and War (most choose
Destruction or War).
Rarely, a Greater Cyclops will develop sorcerous abilities and may have a
few levels of sorcerer or runeweaver.
Cyclops first appeared in Deities and Demigods (Gary Gygax, 1980).
