Rumored to have been born from a powerful demon seduced by Aragon in eons past, Lyranis is a terrible foe. Completely devout to his father's teachings, Lyranis sits at his fathers right hand as his premier intermediary with mortal affairs. His loyalty to his father is near equal to his unbridled passion for destruction and the proliferate of turmoil. Although he pays little attention to devotions granted by lesser beings, Lyranis has become the patron of many mortals and even powerful demons who embrace his mindless ecstasy at wonton destruction.
Although the personification of destruction, Lyranis pays no attention to the moral absolutes of good or evil. When not ordered to act by his father, he can sometimes be wooed into possessing a lesser being to become an agent of destruction. Both good and evil warriors seek to gain his favor when victory can only be accomplished through devastation. Wise priests seek to placate him when their opponents go courting his aid. Despite the form or nature of those calling for his intervention, Lyranis is so chaotic in his selection of vessels that he has been known to possess a vastly overmatched warrior or even a simple beast for no other reason than to increase the destruction brought about during war.
In ancient times past, Lyranis was known to stalk the Outer Planes snuffing out the essences of lesser deities before they could arise to prominence. It took the combined might of four greater deities to imprison him in an inescapable demi-plane where his power could be contained. Upon his father's re-emergence into the multiverse, the son was freed by the will of the father and their combined malice towards the other deities makes entire pantheon's tremble.
Dogma: Lyranis teaches that destruction comes to all things in the end. He is the embodiment of chaos and destruction espoused by his father. Lyranis hates order but has a sadistic and perverse joy at watching it take form so that it can simply be destroyed.
Clergy and Temples: While Lyranis does receive prayers and devotions from mortals, he does not grant spells to his followers. Consequently, there are no clergy of Lyranis. There is however a cult within the ranks of Aragon's priests who revere Lyranis and pray to him before the start of all battles. These priests are known for their ferocity even amongst the warrior priests of Aragon and his Warmongers. Statues of Lyranis are known to exist in many temples of Aragon and some individuals keep small shrines devoted to the deity.
In his natural form, Lyranis appears as a hairless, red-skinned humanoid who stands 10ft. tall. He has large vestigial wings that end in wickedly barbed claws and a long, spiked tail. Lyranis's skin is an think, nearly impenetrable hide capable of deflecting most weapons. His wings are mainly used as an extra set of fighting appendages as Lyranis utilizes an innate magical ability for flight.
Lyranis’s natural weapons are treated as deific and chaotic-aligned for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction.
Improved Grab (Ex): If Lyranis hits with a claw, it deals normal damage and attempts to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity. Lyranis can use this ability on Large and smaller creatures. Lyranis has the option to conduct the grapple normally, or simply use its claw to hold the opponent. Each successful grapple check it makes during successive rounds automatically deals standard claw damage, in addition to automatic spell suck damage.
Spell Suck (Su): If Lyranis bites a foe, the foe loses one of its highest-level prepared spells or one of the spell slots for this day that it has not used. The victim chooses the prepared spell to lose. If the victim has no prepared spells or unused spell slots (either because it has exhausted its spellcasting for the day or because the victim is not a spellcaster), the bite instead deals 2 points of temporary Intelligence damage.
Learned Spell Immunity (Su): If Lyranis is affected by a spell cast by a particular spellcaster, Lyranis thereafter becomes immune to that spell when cast by that spellcaster.
Spell-Like Abilities: At will—animate dead, blasphemy, blur, charm person, create undead, darkness, deeper darkness, desecrate, detect chaos, detect good, detect law, detect magic, fear, fireball, greater dispel magic, hold person, greater invisibility, magic circle against good, major image, produce flame, polymorph, pyrotechnics, read magic, scrying, suggestion, symbol of death, telekinesis, greater teleport (self plus 1,000 pounds), unholy aura, unholy blight, unhallow, wall of fire; 1/day—fire storm, hellball (epic spell), implosion, meteor swarm. As a standard action, he can perceive anything within 1 mile of his worshipers, holy sites, objects, or any location where one of his titles or name was spoken in the last hour, or any location when an act of wonton destruction occurs. He can extend his senses to up to two locations at once. He can block the sensing power of deities of his rank or lower at up to two remote locations at once for up to 1 hour.
Other Divine Powers
As a demigod, a roll of 1 is not an automatic failure but calculate success or failure normally. Lyranis is immortal.
Portfolio Sense: Lyranis senses all events of wonton destruction by intelligent beings when 1,000 or more such beings are involved.
Automatic Actions: Lyranis can use Listen and Spot as free actions if the DC for the task is 15 or lower. He can perform up to two such free actions each round.
Create Magic Items: Lyranis is unable to create magic items. Instead, once per round (as a free action) Lyranis may cause one magic item within 1 mile of his location to explode causing 10d10+9 points of (chaos) damage to everything within a 15ft. radius. This ability does not affect artifacts or items with a lawful descriptor.
Divine Aura: Lyranis’s divine aura extends in a radius up to 10 feet (Will save DC 20). Lyranis generally chooses either the daze or frighten effect.
