Caraknar's life was like any others Frost Giant's born in Ice Keep. He was not exceptional as either a child or warrior. In Caraknar's 28th year, he became interested in the power wielded by the priests of The Dark One. He began listening close to the words of the priests and it did not take him long embrace the clerical way of life.
As a cleric, Caraknar was exceedingly devout. He participated in raids on neighboring settlements and provided magical assistance where needed to the Frost Giants. It did not take long for Caraknar to ascend to a lofty position within the priesthood.
When Caraknar was 36 years old, The Dark One took notice of him and put him through several trials and tests. Caraknar left Ice Keep for a year while undergoing these holy trials. When he returned, he had been gifted with the highest praise his god bestows, the Dark Mark. Upon his return, he challenged the reigning Grand Jarl was defeated him in ritual combat, ascending to that lofty throne.
Since Grand Jarl Caraknar has gained power, the Frost Giants have benefited. Their raiding parties now ranger further south than they have in history. Treasure now flows freely to Ice Keep and even the oldest Frost Giant's are now calling this the Golden Age for their race.
