Mapping Programs

Map X	A great tile based mapping program similar to Dungeon Crafter. Users can import the tile sets created for DC into Map X to add extra features and options.
Dungeon Creator	If you want a quick map for that late night dungeon crawl and don't have the time to put together an adventure, then this is the program for you. It creates a fully fleshed out dungeon complete with secret doors, traps, and populated rooms for your gamers pleasure. As a bonus, when the program creates a player race, it comes complete with name and game stats. These features allow your PCs to have more than mindless monsters to interact with, they may even make new friends.
AUTORealm v2.0	This is an icon based mapping program that allows for freehand placement of map details and items. Although it isn't as user friendly as some of the other mapping programs out there, it's free-flow map style allows for much greater customization and an organic look to finished maps.
Campaign Cartographer	From their website: "CC2 Pro is the fastest and most powerful map-making software for gamers. So if you’re a busy person who wants the best, this is the software for you. In minutes you can learn all you need to rapidly create beautiful maps for campaigns, games and even real-world applications." Not a bad program, but the cost is a factor for some people.
Dungeon Crafter	One of the best non-commercial mapping program of its type I have seen. If you want a detailed map of a dungeon room or a temple, this is the program for you. There are additional tiles available and update information on their website. Currently I link to the website since they are expecting an update to the software.
Interactive Dungeon	From their website: "ID is a software for creating maps often used in role playing games. Crypts, mazes, catacombs, ruins, manors, castles... all sorts of dungeon layouts are possible. It is quick and very easy to use and maps can be rapidly printed to be used in campaigns."
Lior's Map Creator	Lior's Map Creator is designed to draw dungeon and outdoor maps for role-playing games. It features the ability to draw terrain, roads and rivers, natural caves and tunnels, a legend on the map, a customized grid, and more. It has various libraries of objects, an unlimited map size, and an object editor.
NWMap v1.2	NWMap is a free, powerful, tile-based mapping utility designed to help you plan modules for Neverwinter Nights (and you may find it useful as a general RPG mapper as well). The author, Jason Harris, has released the program into the public domain. NWMap uses context-sensitive drawing algorithms that make mapping complicated areas fast, easy and fun.
