DRAGONS

Dividing the continent is a volcanic mountain range called the Dragon Mountains.  For centuries, it has been ruled by a Draconic society that dominates "lesser" races and spreads its influence over the whole of the continent.  Chromatic Dragons of all types make their homes in the Dragon Mountains.  The Volcanic lower reaches tend to be controlled by the massive Red Dragons who are the Kings of the Dragon Society.

Jagenash, a Red Dragon rules from his volcanic pool under the mountain.  All other dragons pay tribute to Jagenash in exchange for his benevolence and aid.  Often, dragons will strike out on their own and travel away from the Dragon Mountains.  They still pay yearly tribute to Jagenash and belong to his Draconic hierarchy.  Other Red Dragons tend to stay close to Jagenash as to not arouse his suspicion.  Jagenash has been known to send out his Azer assassins against another dragon without provocation.

White dragons tend to relocate away from the Volcanic pools and travel into the northern hills or mountain ranges.  Jagenash feels that the smaller white dragons are inferior to him and consequently, the white dragons tend to slip away from his notice.  Most dragons seen in the rural areas away from the Dragon Mountains tend to be adult whites who are looking for a good place to breed.

Black dragons normally stay close to the mountain range.  Kalou Marsh just northwest of the Dragon Mountains is the surrogate home to many of the Black Dragons.  The Marsh is still under Jagenash's observation so many of the younger Dragons have felt the need to travel away from the Mountain Range in hopes of escaping his ever watchful eye.  Jagenash is aware of this slight but has not taken action against the offenders as yet.

Blue dragons are Jagenash's closest allies.  The Memnoc desert is their chosen terrain and its proximity to Jagenash's stronghold makes them natural allies.  Wherever the Azer cannot go, Jagenash pays for the services of Blue Dragon Enforcers.  Sages who are watching the Draconic culture are afraid that one day, a war will erupt and the Red and Blue dragons will sweep across the continent to eliminate all of the "lesser" races before they can interfere.  Most of the Dragon rampages that have been recorded in the last millennia has been Blues on a killing spree.

Green dragons are the only dragons who openly defy Jagenash's rule.  They live in the forested regions of the Continent.  Jagenash hasn't crushed them because he has allies who have infiltrated the Green dragons society as friends and are giving him information and tribute from their collective wealth.  The Green dragons are Ruled by Eloria the Foeshadow.  Sages have speculated that she has a special relationship with Jagenash that both leaders are keeping hidden from their subjects.

Metallic Dragons haven't been seen by humans for nearly 800 years.  Valislad forged an alliance with the Chromatic Dragons late into the mage wars so the Metallic Dragons fled the world of humans to leave them to their folly.  Rumors abound that the charismatic Silver dragons never went far.  The human barbarian kings tell tales of their ancient heroes riding into battle on the backs of Bronze dragons.  Dragon armor still can be found among some of their burial mounds.  True Sages of draconic lore believe that many of the Metallic dragons actually walk among the lesser races waiting for a time that we need them again.
